Data Storage Tags (DST’s)

DST CTD and DST CT

Sensors: Salinity, Temperature and depth
Memory size: DST CTD 43582 &  DST CT 65374 measurements pr. sensor
Battery life: Up to 4 years
Depth: Down to 300m depth

DST CTD Logger and DST CT logger are the smallest salinity, temperature and depth monitor on world market.  They are specially designed as an archival tag for analysing fish migration, distribution, and feeding behaviour, vertical and horizontal movements.  DST CTD and DST CT are ideal for research on marine animals as well. They weigh only 12g in water and 19g in air, the size is 15 mm x 46mm. The DST CTD memory can store up to 43,582 measurements per sensor. Depth measurements can be skipped (DST CT), increasing the memory size to 65,374 measurements per sensor.

The small conductivity loggers are also used as CTD monitor or as a conductivity and temperature monitor whereas they are also ideal as stand-alone monitors for sampling in the ocean. They can for example be fastened to fishing gear, collecting valuable data.  Star-Oddi offers a protective housing for the DST CTD and DST CT.

DST centi, DST centi-ex, DST centi-T , DST centi-hp, DST logic

Sensors: Temperature and depth
Memory size: DST centi-ex 130582 and &  DST centi 43582 measurements pr. sensor *
Battery life: Up to 5 years
Depth: Down to 3000m

*(261164 measurements in to total that can be divided between the two sensors as preferred by the user.)

The DST centi temperature and depth logger has long battery life, and memory size can be extended to 130,582 measurements per sensor (DST centi-ex). It weighs only 12g in water and 19g in air, the size is 15 mm x 46 mm.

DST centi series is specially designed for tagging fish, for analysing fish migration, distribution, and feeding behaviour, vertical and horizontal movements.  The DST centi temperature and depth archival tag can be used externally or internally (implanted into the body cavity) on fish.  If tagged internally, Star-Oddi delivers the tag with a plastic tube attached, the tag is ideal for research on other marine animals as well and as a stand alone logger for sampling in the ocean, fresh water or other situations where there is need for temperature and/or depth (pressure) measurements. The DST centi is also ideal as a small underwater temperature logger, or as a waterproof temperature and pressure monitor in industry.

DST milli

Sensors: Temperature and depth
Memory size: DST milli 21738 measurements pr. sensor
Battery life: Up to 3 years
Depth: Down to 900m

*(43476 measurements in to total that can be divided between the two sensors as preferred by the user.)

DST milli is specially designed as a small archival tag for tagging fish for analysing fish migration, distribution, feeding behaviour, vertical and horizontal movements and weights only 5g in water and 9,2g in air, the size is 12,5mm x 38.4mm. Its memory stores up to 21,738 measurements per sensor.

DST milli is also ideal as a stand-alone logger for temperature and pressure recordings in oceans or fresh water or as for other liquid temperature-pressure measurements.  It can for example be fastened to fishing gear or other underwater equipment, collecting valuable data.

DST GPS - Data Storage Tag

Sensors: GPS code, temperature and depth
Memory size: Total memory size 87164
Battery life: Depending on frequency of measurements (approximately up to 3-4 years)
Depth: Down to 3000m depth

DST GPS measures temperature, pressure (depth) and listens to a GPS signal from sonar.

Data is stored in a non-volatile internal memory. All recordings are time related, utilising a real time clock inside the recorder.

The cost effective and small size construction of the DST GPS archival tag has been possible by carefully selecting modern micro-miniature electronic components and successful sensor development at Star-Oddi.

The DST GPS fish tag has been equipped with the unique user specified features for optimising the tag's performance when receiving and storing in its memory the fish GPS position.

Seastar
Graphic supporting software for Microsoft Windows

The SeaStar software allows the user to define the start time of recordings (year/month/date, /hour/min.).  Thus it is possible to save data memory until the recorder is placed at the measuring site.  This feature is also convenient when several recorders are required to start recording at the same time.  The user also defines the sampling interval, which can be from 1 second to few hours.  The user has the option to define more than one sampling interval for memory increase efficiency.  Up to seven different sampling intervals can be defined.  The user also defines number of measurements to be taken at each interval.  The intervals recycle until memory is full.  The DST milli automatically gets the clock from the PC computer once connection is established.

The SeaStar software retrieves the accumulated data and processes it in graphs and tabular form.  Data files are automatically stored on the computer's hard drive.  The data can be exported to other data processing software packages (for example Excel).  The chart can be saved as bitmap (bmp) or Windows Metafile (wmf) files, for importing into other programs (for example Word).  Chart can be zoomed-in and edited.
