SM-5 Depthmate Portable Sounder
Anchoring security for cruising sailors! Find deep water easily from your dinghy. This unique pocket-sized depth sounder is very accurate and of very high quality. It is useful for boating, fishing, scuba diving, coastal survey, and scientific work.
Features Reads in Feet or Meters, to the nearest tenth through a solid hull, inflatable bottom, or black ice. This is an extremely accurate unit when used properly. 200kHz with 24º beam angle Reads from 2 feet to 260 feet Each reading is backlit and stays displayed for ten seconds. Simply put the head in the water, or against the solid hull of a boat. Sonar will not read through air. This unit can be converted to an SM-5A with the purchase of the EC-5A + Transducer (see accessories page). Note: Depthsounders manufactured prior to 2001 cannot be converted. SM-5A Depthmate with External Transducer
Depthmate model SM-5A has an external transducer at the end of a 12 foot wire for accuracy at a distance.
Features The SM-5A makes it easy if it's not possible for you to reach the water with the SM-5 depthsounder. With the transducer at the end of a 12ft wire, the unit can be used from boats, mounted inside or outside of the hull, or on a pole or boathook. The transducer fitting is waterproof, however, it is not for underwater use and cannot be submerged. This unit can be converted to an SM-5 with the purchase of the EC-5 (see accessories page). Note: Depthsounders manufactured prior to 2001 cannot be converted. An optional ACCESSORY KIT (part number AA-5) contains a strong suction cup bracket for external hull mounting and a velcro/2-block attachment for pole or boathook mounting.
