Because many small airports do not have any control personnel on duty, especially at night, it is necessary to either have the runway lights activated at all times to allow planes to land or have some method of allowing a pilot to turn on the lighting from the plane. As those of us into flying know, FAA specification L-854 provides a means to do just that.

The AR2L is designed to comply with FAA Specification L-854 for controlling airport lighting facilities. It operates in conjunction with Ramsey's AR2 aircraft band receiver so you'll have everything you need to land safely at night without having to replace so many lightbulbs!
